Who do you want to BE in the world?

I can’t wait for you to LISTEN to this podcast with Rachel Paz and Kianga Ford of Becoming Free Humans. We discuss their upcoming course Intimate Allies. Their conversation and perspective blew me away!

Rachel and Kianga are fellow podcasters + coaches. “We are transformational coaches dedicated to giving people the tools they need to connect with themselves and one another. Right now, we are creating space to do that around the topic of race—because the world needs these tools today. ”

Our conversation is about how Rachel (White American) and Kianga (Black American) could have had a very strained time in their relationship these past few months. But it hasn’t been.

They both have a commitment to expressing their deepest truths to each other, doing their own inner work to become the humans they wish to be, and to building the relationships they want to have.

They also share a common toolkit for how to do this in connection with each other with they are teaching inside their course Intimate Allies. Update: This course is no longer being offered.

About Kianga Ford + Rachel Paz

Kianga is Black American. She has a PhD (ABD) in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory from the History of Consciousness Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she studied with Angela Davis. She also holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Fine Art and spent many years as a university professor and administrator. She’s been a transformational coach for the last 5 years, working with clients on understanding difference at the deepest levels, most often in the area of masculine/feminine relating. She regularly leads programs focused on using intimacy to cultivate mutual understanding.

Rachel is White American. She wouldn’t have called herself an “ally” when this all began. She hadn’t read all (or any of) the books on systemic racism, and she definitely didn’t know she was part of the problem. Early in her career, she was a community organizer, social justice advocate, and co-founder of a nonprofit organization, all working with marginalized populations. She’s the mama of a multi-racial child, has a diverse community of friends, and was previously pretty sure she was on the side of good. She’s also a transformational coach who works primarily with unearthing deep-rooted patterns of behavior, shadow integration, and energetic alignment so her clients can more authentically express themselves.
