Recipe: Frothy Hibiscus Latte
Flor de Jamaica (hibiscus) is a delicious herbal tea made from the calyx of the flower. It has a tart, floral, and fruity flavor similar to cranberries or pomegranate. The dried rose buds add to the floral notes in the hibiscus tea.
Feel free to use whatever milk you prefer. If you don’t have a milk frother, a blender will also work, but be mindful of the hot milk. Sweeten this with honey, if you like and top with rose petals to make it extra special. This recipe was originally featured on Tadin Tea
Bonus: Try my mug mindfulness practice that I love to do with my warm beverages. It takes just a few seconds to bring presence to what I am drinking and helps me to be in the moment without having to formally meditate for ages. Listen to the meditation below. Instructions:
Place the rose buds in a tea strainer and then place in a large mug or tea pot. Pour the boiling water over the hibiscus tea bags and the tea strainer with the rosebuds. Steep for 3-5 minutes and take out the strainer and tea bags, squeeze them a little.
Warm the milk in a small saucepan for two minutes or until warm in a small saucepan or place the milk in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Froth the milk with a foamer for about 20–30 seconds. You can also use a blender for 20–30 seconds.
Pour the frothed milk over the tea to fill the mug.
Drink immediately or let cool and pour over ice. You can also place it in the fridge for up to 24 hours.

Hey it's chef Carla and welcome to your mug mindfulness practice. I invite you to get whatever beverage you like hot or cold and place your hands around it and really feel the temperature here is it hot. Is it cold if it's too hot. Maybe you want to pull your hands back, just a tiny bit. Really be in the presence of the mug.
I'm going to invite you to take a deep breath in your nose and a deep breath out your nose or mouth. There's nothing else to do. There's nowhere else to go. There's nothing else to think of you're simply having an experience with your beverage right now I'm to invite you to take one more deep breath in your nose and a deep breath out your nose or mouth I'm going to invite you to smell the beverage really take an inhale here and what does it smell like.
Can you imagine what it tastes like go ahead and take a sip. What is the flavor? What is the temperature? How does it feel in your mouth? I would invite you to take another deep breath in your nose. And a deep breath out your nose or mouth and I hope that you enjoy your cup I'm sending you so much. Love bye.
This is the perfect drink for a hot summer day. If you are in the north east, like me you know these days are numbered, the leaves are already falling! It’s inspired by the Venezuelan drink, Tizana, which is made with chopped fruit and grenadine and can be spiked.
