Reducing Anxiety + Stopping Panic Attacks with the Wim Hof Method

My journey with anxiety has been rocky, at times it has been debilitating. In 2018, I was having daily panic attacks. It’s what led me to choose the words Rest + Deep Nourishment for my words of 2019. I used to have a very elaborate morning that I got up at 4:30 am to do: Journal, mediation, lemon water, workout, more mediation etc. I haven’t been able to stick with it consistently lately. It’s felt off and it was becoming exhausting (when it was supposed to be relaxing).

I came across the Wim Hof Method years ago on a podcast but I wasn’t ready to commit back then. It saw Wim again, on the Goop Lab on Netflix. I was blown away by a woman that beat her panic attacks and decreased her medication for anxiety.

I decided to try the Wim Hof Method myself. The results have been incredible! My anxiety that used to be a 10/10 is now most days a 1/10 or zero. For a person that has suffered from panic attacks, that’s insane! I have been talking to so many people about it. I decided to write a guide, if you are interested in trying it too!

My Tips for Starting the Wim Hof Method:

1. Watch the Goop Lab Episode or do Wim’s Free min-course

2. Download the Wim Hof app

3. Start with the 30 Day Challenge to learn the philosophy and also science of why the method works.

4. Start the Breathing Bubble exercises.

5. Start the 20-day Cold Shower Challenge.

6. Follow the prompts and either do it daily or as recommended.

NOTE: DO NOT SKIP STEPS. It’s really important to go slow. This method is not about shocking your body. It's a gradual process that has tremendous results. You can hear me talk about it in this podcast episode
